FINE ARTS
LEARN TO DRAW...AND MORE

For adults and teens. This fine art class is for beginners with little to no experience. Classes are kept small in order to maximize individual attention and output. You will need a minimum of materials to begin the course. In the first session we will concentrate on becoming familiar with the materials through basic exercises. Included are learning to "see", shading, composition and basic perspective. Each student will work at his/her own pace. All that is required is the desire to learn, and if you think you can’t draw, take this class and be amazed with the results!
 PRESCHOOL PICASSOS

Finally, an art course designed especially for the preschooler ages 3-5. This course is taught in a hands-on, educational and fun environment. Dress for a mess! Topics include color mixing, drawing, shapes, patterns and textures. Various mediums are used and each child is encouraged to explore their "Inner Picasso". Basic artistic terminology is introduced in a way that is natural and easy to understand. An Art Gallery Exhibit will take place following the last class. Each student will showcase a painting done on art board, suitable for framing. Friends and relatives are invited to the exhibit. Please note that the Picasso courses are not designed to "bring home a project" each week. We are focused on teaching your child the process, not necessarily the final result.
PICASSOS PLUS

An extension of the Preschool Picassos course, the students will progress into exploring additional art forms and mediums including sculpting, woodcraft, fabrics, and mosaics. This course concentrates on 3-dimensional art and layering. This is a very tactile environment and the students are encouraged to be creative in their exploration of individual interests. Following each class, the students may choose to place their art on display in the studio for an entire week. Please note that the Picasso courses are not designed to "bring home a project" each week. We are focused on teaching your child the process, not necessarily the final result.
ART-U-CATION - NEW!
Creative Writing and Illustrating

KNITTING - Beginner and Intermediate

Beginners: You will learn the basics and incorporate new skills into simple projects. You will learn casting on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, and binding off. With these basic skills you will be able to complete a scarf and/or hat.
Intermediate: If you already know how to knit, need a refresher or want to increase your skills, this class can help you progress. You can learn a new skill, cables, double pointed needles, circular needles, socks, etc., or bring a project you need help with. You can increase your knitting knowledge and move on to more complex projects!

PRESCHOOL PREP TAE KWON DO

This course is for students ages 4-6 and teaches beginning martial arts technique. Josh teaches balance and flexibility exercises, as well as stance and posture. Students will learn the basics of Tae Kwon Do through fun exercises, such as Karate Kickball. No special uniform required. Dress in clothes comfortable for movement.
TAE KWON DO

This class is for students age 7 and up, and covers basic forms, kicking and blocking, self-defense and self-restraint. Students will participate in kicking exercises and games as well as point-sparring for prizes.

Josh offers private instruction to all ages/experience levels and believes that the best learning environment for an aspiring musician is a one-on-one classroom experience. The curriculum includes chord structures, fundamental picking and finger-picking technique, scales, rhythm exercises, improvisation and compositional method all rolled into an enthusiastic environment. All this on its own is what you’ll get from any teacher, but any good player knows it isn’t theory that makes the musician. It’s how you use it! Josh encourages his students to use this knowledge to think outside the box and create something new and unique.
ELECTRIC GUITAR, BASS, DRUMS - (Beginner/Intermediate)

This small group setting includes theory, improvisation, songwriting, and what is being called "guitargraphy": a study of how to create and use new timbres on the guitar. Students are able to learn at their own pace from beginner through intermediate levels. As students progress they will be able to advance into Jam Session.
JAM SESSION

Jam sessions are reserved for intermediate to advanced. Students of all instruments are welcome to play in Jam Session. A drum set and PA will be provided and Josh will coach the sessions. Each week will cover improvisation, comping/rhythm-playing, songwriting/composition, and group cooperation. Students must be recommended by a teacher to join or schedule an audition. Students will have the opportunity to advance into Band Coaching.
BAND COACHING - No Date Announced
This course is reserved for advanced students who are interested in becoming performers and must pass an audition. Students will be matched with other students to form a band with the goal of performance time on a real stage. Students will also record a CD and design their own CD cover.
